Hans Anders is launching a new TV commercial next Monday (21 June 2021). In the commercial, the main character Loes, played by Plien van Bennekom, has an appointment with her optician Hans. After all, an appointment with your optician has become quite common and ensures that you do not have to wait.
Hans Anders welcomes the appointment system as it contributes to an optimal and frictionless shopping experience. Rian van Koulil, Director Brand & Communications: 'Buying a new pair of glasses requires a new eye measurement, so help from an optician is essential. After all, it's not like a t-shirt you take off the rack, try on, and pay for.'
In the past, there were sometimes long queues of waiting customers at the value-for-money optician chain. That had many drawbacks. 'Research showed that waiting was one of our customers' biggest irritations. For some customers, this was even a reason to go to a competitor. And our staff, too, felt the pressure from waiting customers,' says Van Koulil.
It has been possible to shop by appointment at Hans Anders for quite a while now. But this is not always taken advantage of. 'Most people were not even aware of the option,' said Van Koulil. The coronavirus crisis has accelerated the making of appointments. Quite logical says Van Koulil: 'Why wait for an hour when you can easily arrange to be seen right away?'

The character 'Loes' in the Hans Anders TV commercial is perfect for promoting the idea of an appointment in a funny way. In the first commercial, she left her somewhat boring husband and went out for herself. And from the moment she walked into Hans Anders, she was impressed by optician 'Hans'. Not surprisingly, she is all excited about her 'date' with Hans and even brings along a friend (played by Susan Visser) as wing woman for extra support. 'In the commercial, we deliberately mix up an appointment and a date, which creates funny situations. An effective advertisement should also just be fun to watch, we believe,' says Van Koulil. Previously, Andre van Duin also starred alongside Plien van Bennekom.
The series of TV commercials were developed by advertising agency N=5, produced by production company Holy Fools and directed by Mattias Schut. Earlier, legend André van Duin also appeared alongside Plien van Bennekom in a TV commercial of the retailer. 'Susan Visser also complements Plien perfectly. The energy and casting are, besides a nice script of course, very important in such campaigns with an anchorperson to appeal to a broad target group,' says Thijs Bontje (ECD N=5).
